Jessica Ringrose

Ringrose is a Canadian feminist sociologist who has studied gender inequity in education and schooling for 30 years. She is an expert in youth digital cultures, digital literacy, and educational interventions prioritizing children’s rights. Since the development of social networking sites in mid 2000s her work has explored how young people use mobile technology and social media platforms for self representation, relationships and intimacies. She has also researched youth digital feminist and LGBTQIA+ activisms. She works with a wide range of stakeholders to co-produce educational interventions to address gender and sexual inequity including tech facilictated violence, online misogyny and harmful masculinities, bystanding and allyship online and at school. Working with a wide range of international stakeholders these interventions have reached hundreds of thousands of young people.
Kat Simpson
Kat Simpson is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Community Studies at the University of Huddersfield (Visit an external site. The link opens in a new tab.) where I have worked since 2020. She teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate education and teacher-training programmes, and she is Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Primary Education Studies.
She has over ten years’ experience working in a range of educational settings, with children, young people, and adults from a diverse range of backgrounds, although, my main expertise and experience is in primary education. She has a first-class degree in Early Primary Education and a PhD in the sociology of education. Her first book, Social Haunting, Education, and the Working Class: A Critical Marxist Ethnography in a Former Mining Community was published by Routledge in 2021. Based on a critical Marxist ethnography, conducted at a primary school in a former coalmining community in the north of England, the book provides insight into teachers’ perceptions about the effects of deindustrialisation on education for the working class.
Ville Vuolanto

Ville Vuolanto on keskittynyt arjen, kokemuksen, ja lapsuuden sekä antiikin sosiaali- ja kulttuurihistorian tutkimukseen, antiikin maailman, latinan kielen ja historiantutkimuksen metodiikan opetukseen. Vuolanto toimii Tampereen yliopistossa historian yliopistonlehtorina, joka on vastuussa Latinankielisen kulttuurin ja latinan kielen opintokokonaisuudesta. Hänen päätutkimuskohteena on esimodernin ajan arkielämä. Häntä kiinnostavat erityisesti ihmisten väliset suhteet, niin kokemusten, elinympäristön kuin traditioiden välittymisenkin kannalta. Sosiaalisen toimintaympäristön ja sukupuolen huomioonotto ovat keskeisiä hänen tutkimukselleen. Hän on lähestynyt aihepiirejä erityisesti lapsuuden historian ja perhehistorian tutkimuksen avulla Rooman valtakunnan, varhaiskristillisyyden, ja varhaiskeskiajan konteksteissa. Viime aikojen tutkimuskohteita ovat olleet jatkuvuusstrategiat, toivon historia, orjuus, isovanhemmuus, sekä lasten toimijuus ja kokemukset.
Kaisa Vehkalahti

Kaisa Vehkalahti on yliopistonlehtori Jyväskylän yliopistossa Historian ja etnolofgian laitoksella. Vehkalahti johtaa tutkimushankkeita Minun maaseutuni. Ylisukupolvisuus, paikka ja sukupuoli suomalaisten maaseutusuhteen rakentajina (Koneen säätiö 2021–2025) ja The Future of Nordic Youth in Rural Regions: A Cross-National Qualitative Longitudinal Study in Four Nordic Countrie (Future Challenges in the Nordics -program, 2022–2026). Vehkalahti on kulttuuri- ja sosiaalihistorian dosentti Oulun ja Lapin yliopistoissa. Lukuvuonna 2024–2025 Vehkalahti toimii pääosin The Future of Nordic Youth in Rural Regions -hankkeessa ja on osin tutkimusvapaalla yliopistonlehtorin tehtävästään. Vehkalahti on erikoistunut 1900-luvun Suomen kulttuuri- ja sosiaalihistoriaan, lapsuuden ja kasvatuksen historiaan, nuorisotutkimukseen sekä tutkimusetiikkaan. Hänen nykyiset tutkimusintressinsä ja hankkeensa liittyvät erityisesti maalaisnuoruuteen ja maaseudun historiaan, muistitietotutkimukseen ja pitkittäistutkimukseen.
