The DigiConnect research project examines digital social work carried out with children and young people, focusing in particular on children’s and young people’s experiences and agency in digital encounters. The purpose and aim of the research project is twofold. The first aim is to examine the digital services and practices currently available in social and welfare work directed at children and young people, and to assess the meanings, effects, and mechanisms of implementation of technology-mediated support and communication from the perspective of children and young people. The project’s second aim is to develop research-ethically sustainable methodological approaches that can reach children and young people in digital environments, and that allow safe and sensitive examination of social work target groups in vulnerable positions as well, in the digital age.
