CROSSWAY – enCouRage dialOgueS to Support mental
Wellbing of At-risk Youth with migrant background

A new ERASMUS+ Cooperation Partnership (KA220-youth) has started in December, 2025. Finnish Youth Research Society coordinates the project with partners from Greece, Spain and Denmark. The aim of the CROSSWAY project is to provide research-based information and facilitate networking and dialogue in the field of youth work, NGOs and service provision for increased understanding and knowledge sharing and for developing good practices to support vulnerable migrant youth leading eventually to increased mental wellbeing, participation and employment.

What do you want to achieve by implementing the project?

Various barriers hinder young people (17-29) from participating in society and seeking support for their mental well-being. CROSSWAY will produce information on groups of vulnerable young people with migrant background and the available support practices in four European countries and to enhance networking and knowledge sharing to promote wellbeing. By exploring the youth and stakeholder perspectives, the aim is to facilitate dialogue for finding solutions for current problems and future crises.

Implementation: What activities are you going to implement?

Mapping of stakeholders in Finland, Denmark, Greece and Spain will lay the bases for CROSSWAY and facilitate focusing the in-depth work. Selected stakeholders will be interviewed and invited to participate. Experiences of young people and youth perspective, including Ukrainian youth, has a central role. Research based information will be processed in participatory activities, disseminated and scaled up to recommendations. Networking and knowledge exchange are conducted throughout the project.

Results: What project results and other outcomes do you expect your project to have?

CROSSWAY provides research-based information and facilitate knowledge sharing to promote mental health of young people with migrant background, focusing specially to vulnerable groups including youth from Ukraine. Networking will bring European stakeholders to discuss solutions and learn from each other. The aim is to facilitate dialogue between research, practice and policy making, to increase understanding and to support youth in need as well as youth work and other people working in the field.
