YouthWiki Network marks 10 years of providing youth policy insights

In 2025, the YouthWiki Network celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since its launch in 2015, the YouthWiki (Visit an external site. The link opens in a new tab.) has become Europe’s go to online encyclopedia for national youth policies across 34 countries. Its pages offer detailed descriptions of all policy actions for young people existing in the participating countries. In doing so it supports evidence-based European cooperation and peer learning in the youth sector, assisting the European Commission and national decision makers. The Finnish Youth Research Society updates the information regarding Finland’s youth policies (see the project web page for more information).

Meaningful knowledge-sharing across Europe

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the YouthWiki, Florence Mondin, Head of the Unit managing the Network in the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, highlights its role in strengthening knowledge on youth policies across Europe:

“In just 10 years, the YouthWiki has become an essential reference point on national youth policies, fostering understanding and exchange across Europe. This anniversary is a reminder of the energy and innovation that drive our Network, and of our commitment to supporting young people and those who work with them.”

The importance of YouthWiki’s support for European cooperation and peer-learning is also underlined Henni Axelin, Director of Youth Affaris at Ministry of Education and Culture:

“It is important that good practices from different countries are available and can support national level policymaking”. “For example, frameworks for evaluating youth participation have been useful for us”, she continues.

Continuously developing YouthWiki Network

Since its creation, the Network has undergone significant evolutions and, in 2022, began publishing comparative reports on topics highly relevant to young people, such as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their mental health.

“it has been wonderful to be part of this project since its inception. Ten years ago, we did not have such a comprehensive repertoire of national youth policies – information was scattered across different sources and difficult to access. Then the YouthWiki came along and filled that gap. Since then, much progress in its scope and use of information has been made: new countries, new topics, new analytical reports… and more will come!, says YouthWiki analyst Giulia Paolini with enthusiasm.

The YouthWiki is funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme and Ministry of Culture and Education.
