How to Study Youth Work and Young People: Producing an Estonian Translation

The aim of this project is to produce an Estonian translation of the updated version of the book on the methodology of youth work research and youth studies, originally published in Finnish in 2018. The central argument of the book is that studying youth work requires solid knowledge of youth studies and the methodological approaches used within it. The chapters, edited by Tomi Kiilakoski and Päivi Honkatukia, combine general methodological reflections with personal insights from respected youth studies researchers who have experience in studying youth work.

The Estonian edition will include six new chapters that focus on the Estonian context and provide updated perspectives on quantitative methods, studies on the impact of youth work, and participatory methodologies.

The Finnish Youth Research Society will collaborate on editing the book together with colleagues from Tallinn University. In addition, researchers involved in the project will take part in co-developing and writing the new chapters and co-organizing events and professional meetings on youth work research methodologies.
