Youth in time is a large-scale longitudinal research project that aims to follow the life course of young people born at the turn of the millennium over a long period of at least 10 years. It will use a wide range of qualitative methods to gain a comprehensive picture of the life course of young people. The project aims to complement statistical surveys and to gather in-depth information on young people’s daily lives, which is difficult to obtain through surveys. The monitoring system that the project will build will also include quantitative indicators to back up the qualitative data.
The project started in 2015 and will continue until at least 2025, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The project is led by Docent Sinikka Aapola-Kari in collaboration with University Lecturer Tarja Tolonen (University of Helsinki), University Lecturer Päivi Armila (University of Eastern Finland) and Academy Researcher Kaisa Vehkalahti (University of Jyväskylä).
